The “Milestones” project has been with PH Austria and the Lungenkinder Forschungsverein for many years and is a matter close to the heart of all those involved. The idea for the milestones arose three years after Gerald “Gerry” Fischer took over the management of the patient service for pulmonary hypertension. In 2005, the place of milestones at the planetarium in the famous Vienna Prater was inaugurated by the then Vice Mayor Grete Laska and sponsors such as Bank Austria and Austria 3 and the first paving stones were laid with a personal dedication. Since then, the project has literally grown “stone by stone”.
„To depict a lack of air is not that easy.“
Gerry Fischer, Obmann
That is why the association decided to use a (plaster) stone as a symbol for the feeling of having “a stone lying on the chest that makes it difficult for those affected to breathe”. Personal messages, the location in the immediate vicinity of the ferris wheel, to which many supporters are related, and the longevity of the material make every milestone an individual gift, especially in the family environment and from companies that give their employees, partners and customers a give special pleasure and want to do something good at the same time, is consistently received positively.
The Milestones Square is located on Oswald-Thomas-Platz in front of the planetarium in Vienna’s Prater. A milestone including a personal engraving can be purchased for a donation of at least € 29.
After ordering, you will receive a certificate by email and thus have something “in your hand” that you can give away to your loved ones.
As soon as your milestone has been relocated, you will also receive a photo of the stone that has been relocated.
