The route of the Zoo Run is offering a once in a life time experiece. This run counts more than 2.000 runners who won’t miss out on this unique event. Some of them are even running in animal costumes. “I’ve seen a whole group dressed up as zebras! There were cheetahs and bees and even runners with fish hats!” says Dagmar Schratter head of the Tiergarten Schönbrunn excited.
The Zoo Run is leaded by its mascot as half of the generated money is in favour of the construction of a new aquarium and the other half is for PH Austria. “Big thanks to all runners! The Zoo Run has become a real institutuion already” says event host Gerry Fischer happily.

PH Austria – “Lungenkinder” & the new aquarium
Children with pulmonary hypertension can’t cavort, run, play or dance like other children as they are missing the air they need for this.
Children with pulmonary hypertension are lonely and isolated, often sick, always exhausted, and their parents helplessly have to see them slowly dying for years. In order to test the efficiency of life-prolonging medications, children with pulmonary hypertension have to undergo a dangerous cardiac catheterization procedure every time from which the children do not recover for months. With a new device and a especially for that necessary study it is possible to spare them these life-threatening exertions.
The new aquarium is one of the largest projects the Tiergarten Schönbrunn has ever tackled. It is being completely rebuilt and is currently in the planning phase.
As the location of the new aquarium, the area between the rainforest house and the rhinoceros enclosure is planned. The final concept and form will be decided in a competition of several teams of architects. In any case, it will be an aquarium and a fascinating new home, for all the big and small animals of the rivers, lakes and seas of the world: from a living coral reef, sea dragons, jellyfish and a shark tank, to the Batagur turtles, which are one of the most successful species conservation projects of the Tiergarten Schönbrunn.
With your donation you are supporting this project, which may even benefit you once, because pulmonary hypertension can also affect adults at any age!
We are counting on YOU!
